Eyeshields - Schedule (B)4

The attention of Trainers is drawn to the possible dangers involved in equipping horses with eyeshields where the eyes are covered with a transparent material. There has been the occasional instance on the All Weather tracks when a horse's vision has been reduced because the eyeshields have become either caked in wet sand due to kickback or steamed up at the start. To prevent similar situations occuring Trainers are advised to only use eyeshields that have adequate ventilation or, if the conditions are such that the kickback is liable to stick to the transparant material, to use an eyeshield where the eyes are covered with a mesh.
